What is the maximum speed of the Byka?

Byka has been rated to a maximum speed of 85kmh but through real world testing, we have found that it is possible to reach speeds of up to 95kmh depending on weight, road conditions and wind speed.

What is the expected range of the Byka on a single charge?

This depends on a variety of factors. While the Byka has a range of up to 150km on a single charge, factors such as riding styles, weight and routes can affect the range. Unlike typical petrol powered motorcycles, riding within the city can actually increase the range since the rider would be travelling at slower speeds than on highways and there is also scope for the regenerative braking capabilities of the vehicles to feed some energy back to the batteries during braking or deceleration.

How long does it take to charge the battery?

It typically takes 5-6 hours to charge the battery pack from 0% to 100%. The battery pack has been designed to charge upto 70% in 1 hour and trickle charge to 100% over the next 3-4 hours to preserve battery life and prevent degradation.

How often would the battery pack need to be replaced?

The battery packs are rated for peak performance upto a 1000 cycles where one cycle is completed when the battery is charged and discharged from 0%-100%- 0%. This means that if the battery is charged only once per day, it would hold it’s performance for upto 3 years. However, this doesn’t mean that the battery would die after 1000 cycles and it simply means that the battery capacity drops to around 80% of it’s
original capacity.

How/Where can the batteries be charged?

Byka comes with a portable charger that can be plugged into
any standard power outlet such as the ones found in homes/offices/ cafés. Since the batteries are designed to be “swappable”, it can even be charged without having to connect the vehicle directly to a
power outlet.

How often would the Byka need to be serviced?

Like any other electric vehicle, the number of moving parts in the Byka are far less than in a conventional petrol powered motorcycle. This means that servicing/maintenance would only be required for the “consumables” such as brakes and tyres depending on how often the vehicle is used. A suspension tune-up would also be advisable along with these depending on the road conditions that the vehicle operates in. Say goodbye to oil changes, smog checks, spark plugs, and baggy chains.

Can the Byka be washed?

Absolutely. The main components such as the motor and battery are designed to withstand light sprays and rain. However, it is advisable not to use pressure washers/jets directly onto the motor and battery. If the battery connector terminals do get wet, it is advisable to dry it out completely before connecting the charger to prevent any instances of shorting.

Can the Byka be used during rain?

Yes. The main components such as the motor and battery are designed to withstand light sprays and rain. However, if the water levels reach higher than the lowest edge of the motor, it is best not to continue riding and park the vehicle in a safe spot since water seeping into the internal components of the motor could severly damage it.
